Large-screen floating-style display audio systems are currently attracting attention, with the number of new models from domestic brands increasing. The feature covers differences in vehicle compatibility and screen size, as well as quality risks associated with overseas products.
Among display audio systems, the floating style uses a separate display connected to the front of the main unit. Because the unit fits the 2DIN standard, it is compatible with a wide range of vehicles. It is introduced as being potentially installable not only in current vehicles but also in models from several years ago.
The display extends out over the front of the dashboard, enabling a larger screen. In some cases, vehicles that can accommodate only a 7-inch in-dash unit can instead be fitted with a 9-inch or 10-inch model. The feature also covers functions designed to improve comfort, such as screen-angle adjustment and measures to reduce reflections.
The main brands currently available include Carrozzeria, Kenwood, Alpine and Eclipse. This feature selects and introduces recommended models from among them.
Although the focus is on major domestic brands, it also cautions that lower-priced products made by overseas manufacturers may raise quality concerns, such as being prone to shaking from driving vibrations or offering inadequate image quality.
