Sony Group is participating as an Initiative Partner of the Sapporo International Art Festival 2027 and will present "OPTICAL DRIFT," an immersive exhibition inspired by snow stars, for the first time. The festival will run from 16 January to 21 February 2027 at venues including Sapporo Cultural Arts Community Center SCARTS.
Sony Group is participating as an Initiative Partner of the Sapporo International Art Festival 2027 and has newly developed "OPTICAL DRIFT," an immersive exhibition that reconstructs and symbolizes the Earth's natural phenomena. The exhibition responds to the theme of SIAF2027, "PLANET SNOW — upas mintar / upas nociw."
Inspired by optical phenomena created by snow and ice, the exhibition presents a space filled with numerous lenses enveloped in mist, where light and sound interact and change in response to visitors' movements. It prompts reflection on the relationships between nature and technology, and between people and the environment, while stimulating the imagination for the future.
The exhibition will run from 16 January to 21 February 2027, with opening hours from 10:00 to 19:00, across multiple venues including Sapporo Cultural Arts Community Center SCARTS. Admission is free, and no reservation is required.
The SIAF2027 schedule states that the festival will be held at multiple venues across Sapporo and that the exhibition is positioned as part of SIAF.
