Five companies including Zenrin have launched an initiative to promote tourism circulation in Okinawa. The STLOCAL app's service area is being expanded, digital tickets are being sold and mobility data analysis is being developed.
Zenrin, Okinawa Urban Monorail, Bank of The Ryukyus, TISI and Zenrin Intermap began collaborating in October 2026 to expand STLOCAL's service area by adding Naha and Urasoe and to sell digital tickets for transport operators and tourist attractions. The initiative aims to promote use of local transport and tourism circulation.
Digital tickets are provided in collaboration with 7 operators in Okinawa. Available products include Yui Rail 24-hour and 48-hour passes, airport shuttle buses, scheduled sightseeing buses and admission tickets for tourist attractions. A digital stamp rally using STLOCAL will also be held, introducing mechanisms to encourage event participation and walking tours.
The locations of popular Yui Rail wrapped trains will be available on a map through 31 March 2027. As Okinawa faces issues including traffic congestion and the concentration of tourists in particular areas, the digital ticket sales initiative is being advanced as a continuation of MaaS initiatives led by local authorities.
Tourist mobility data obtained through the app will be analysed and is scheduled to be used in future measures to resolve transport issues and increase tourism spending.
