SKY Perfect JSAT announced that email addresses held by an external email distribution service for members may have been leaked. The cause was unauthorized access to IDC Frontier's cloud platform, and some promotional email distributions have been suspended.
SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation announced on 13 October 2026 that members' email addresses may have been leaked from an external email distribution service for SKY Perfect! Members. The company cited unauthorized access to IDC Frontier's cloud platform, which is used in part by the service, as the cause of the announcement.
Those potentially affected may include SKY Perfect! Members and some former members. The company explained that, at present, other personal information, including names, addresses, telephone numbers and credit card numbers, as well as email subject lines and bodies, is not believed to have been subject to a potential leak. The impact of the incident has been the suspension of some promotional email distributions, with no impact on viewing services such as broadcasting and video streaming.
A report has stated that ransomware attacks on East Japan Region 1 were confirmed as part of the impact of unauthorized access to IDC Frontier's IDCF Cloud cloud service as a whole. SKY Perfect JSAT said it had confirmed a connection between this unauthorized access and its own email distribution service, but plans to await the results of further investigations before providing details.
As follow-up measures, the company said members should be alert to suspicious emails and links requesting them to log in, while companies should identify dependencies involving service providers, cloud services and data centers and consider measures to prevent a recurrence. It also said it would make another announcement as soon as new facts, including whether any leakage occurred, become known after the initial announcement.】
