Entertainer Katori Shingo (香取慎吾) will serve as ambassador for “The Joy of Living in the Present,” from the Musée d'Orsay Collection, an exhibition to be held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum. The exhibition runs from 14 November to 28 March next year and commemorates the museum’s 100th anniversary.
Katori has long been closely involved with art. He has also worked as a painter, holding a solo exhibition at the Louvre in Paris in 2018 and another in Japan in 2019. Regarding his appointment, he said he was strongly drawn to the theme “The Joy of Living in the Present” and looked forward to encountering outstanding works.
He indicated that he intends to convey the appeal of art to many people through the exhibition, and also referred to the value of experiencing original works in person in the smartphone era. Katori said this is his first appointment as an art exhibition ambassador.
Attention is focused on the exhibition and how its appeal will be conveyed through Katori’s activities.
