Korean-backed Rocket Now has entered Japan’s food delivery market. The market is beginning to shift toward a potential three-way restructuring involving Uber Eats, Demae-can and Rocket Now.
Uber Eats continues to lead the food delivery industry, with Demae-can in second place, while Korean-backed Rocket Now has announced its entry into the market. Wolt and menu have withdrawn, and the market currently remains a three-player structure, but the landscape could change depending on future developments.
Regarding market size trends and the competitive landscape, 2025 estimates put Uber Eats at 65%, Demae-can at 27% and Rocket Now at 8%. Uber Eats currently has more than approximately 120,000 partner restaurants and Demae-can more than approximately 110,000, while Rocket Now is believed to have expanded to at least around 75,000 and nearly 100,000 at the upper end.
Monthly active users are also drawing attention. Rocket Now is said to have approximately 3.78 million monthly users, approaching Uber Eats’ approximately 3.95 million. Demae-can’s quarterly active users have been reported at 2.83 million, highlighting Rocket Now’s expansion.
