三陽商会 appointed Hirabayashi Yoshinori (平林義規) as its new president and is proceeding with the management transition under its current two-top structure. Following its restructuring after the end of the Burberry agreement, the company is steering toward sustainable growth.
Hirabayashi Yoshinori (平林義規) became 三陽商会’s new president and made clear that the company intends to operate under a two-top structure together with former president Hirae (平江). His appointment takes effect in May 2026. Based on his experience supporting the company as an outside director, the company has adopted a structure in which he will advance decision-making in cooperation with his predecessor.
As background to the change, Oe Shinji (大江伸治), who had led the company’s restructuring following the end of the Burberry agreement, changed from representative director to chairman. The selection of his successor was decided following discussions by the Nominating and Compensation Committee. Under the new structure, the company will execute its strategy while drawing on its past achievements and understanding the context of its operations.
Although President Hirabayashi is not an apparel specialist, he plans to use his broad experience at Mitsui & Co. to strengthen existing businesses and pursue new areas under the medium-term management plan. He stressed the need to preserve the values of “truth, virtue and beauty” while appropriately evolving them in line with the changing times.
As the company moves from restructuring to growth, attention is focused on its policy of pursuing sustainable growth while monitoring developments among its largest shareholder and the market’s perspective. Under President Hirabayashi’s leadership, the company is expected to review the balance between brand individuality and pricing as it steers the business forward.
