Yangzijiang Marine Development, a Chinese ship investment company, has disclosed plans to place large orders with small and medium-sized shipyards and build high-value-added vessels, including VLCCs, between 2028 and 2030.
Yangzijiang Marine Development, a Chinese ship investment company, disclosed to the Singapore Exchange plans to newly order a total of 24 vessels, including tankers and VLCCs.
The orders comprise 6 bulkers in the 64,500-ton class, 6 MR tankers in the 49,800-ton class, 4 stainless-steel chemical carriers each in the 28,000-ton and 29,000-ton classes, and 4 VLCCs in the 319,000-ton class.
All vessels will be built at shipyards in China, with delivery scheduled between 2028 and 2030. The orders are described as the largest placed since the start of the year.
The company is said to have adopted a transaction model under which work is assigned to small and medium-sized shipyards at low prices and underutilised equipment and personnel are provided, allowing it to expand the order volume while containing costs in a mutually beneficial arrangement.
