University students and others presented proposals for Japan's future as investment and financial schemes to securities industry leaders. Presentations from several universities, including Meiji University, focused on regional revitalization and measures to address population decline, and companies also responded to the proposals.
The Japan Securities Dealers Association and Japan Exchange Group held an event for university students in Tokyo ahead of Securities Investment Day. The students proposed investment and financial schemes to help realize Japan's future, surprising securities company presidents and other executives. The chair of the Japan Securities Dealers Association said he hoped the event would serve as communication that supports the next generation's challenges.
The Meiji University presentation called for an environment that encourages individual investment in regional areas and the development of regional economic models that do not depend on population size, so that regions can remain attractive as Japan's population declines. It also proposed creating a system that would enable students from urban areas to participate in regional projects.
Waseda University focused on part-time work, while Tokyo Woman's Christian University presented on disaster preparedness. The CEO of Japan Exchange Group praised the presentations as clear and offering interesting perspectives, and encouraged the students to invest based on accurate knowledge and reliable information.
The event was held as an initiative ahead of Securities Investment Day on 4 October. The Japan Securities Dealers Association and JPX aim to deepen university students' understanding.
