This article introduces Bizmates,Inc.'s efforts to build an organisation in which employees from multiple nationalities recognise and respect different values, providing a detailed account of its organisational culture from its founding to the present and its external initiatives.
Based in Tokyo and centred on the online English conversation service Bizmates,Inc. brings together diverse talent, with employees from 11 national backgrounds. The organisation is managed around the creation of an environment in which everyone can perform at their best, recognising differences in culture and language.
The company was founded by 3 people from different backgrounds: President Suzuki (鈴木氏), Ito Nichika (伊藤日加氏), a second-generation Japanese descendant raised in Japan, and Minette, who is from the Philippines. Placing importance on creating an equitable environment that recognises differences, the company has introduced measures including prayer rooms and displaying Japanese and English side by side.
The company established a local subsidiary in the Philippines and operates its Japanese business across the two countries in cooperation with local trainers. It currently works with approximately 2,000 Filipino trainers and local employees, placing importance on face-to-face interaction through business trips and opportunities to travel as supplementary prizes for awards.
The company is also extending its initiatives externally and operates a training business that supports the globalisation of Japanese companies. It was selected for a career advancement support program through reskilling, and the grant was approved in February 2026.
