AIRMAN announced its results for the first quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2027, with a sharp expansion in demand in North America driving record highs in sales and each profit measure. President Sato Goichi (佐藤豪一) said that growth in North American sales had lifted overall performance. Sales in North America rose 62.8% year on year to ¥3.593 billion, and the region's share of total sales also increased significantly.
Key financial figures included sales of ¥13.743 billion and operating profit of ¥2.437 billion, representing year-on-year increases of 3.7% and 50.9%, respectively. Increased North American sales and foreign exchange gains were cited as factors behind the rise in profit. By segment, the construction machinery business remained solid, with shipments of engine compressors increasing both in Japan and overseas, while shipments of aerial work platforms stagnated.
The full-year forecast was revised upward at the end of July to sales of ¥60.2 billion, operating profit of ¥8.3 billion, ordinary profit of ¥8.7 billion and net profit of ¥6.0 billion. The company is expected to achieve its medium-term vision targets one year ahead of schedule, with the weaker yen assumed in its exchange-rate projections and tariff-related factors contributing to the outlook. Downside risks include weaker demand in the Middle East and Asia, higher raw material costs and a renewed increase in tariff rates.
As part of its organizational reforms, the company will make the Overseas Sales Department independent and establish an Overseas Sales Headquarters. It also resolved to repurchase its own shares as part of its shareholder returns. The company said that demand conditions from next year onward remained uncertain and would therefore be estimated cautiously, while achieving this year's revised targets would be its top priority.
