Health Guardian is now available in the Google Health app, with monthly trend reports covering 3 metrics—blood pressure trends, insulin resistance trends, and sleep breathing quality—now being delivered for Pixel Watch 3–5 users starting this week.
Google officially announced the launch of Health Guardian. Users can now set up and obtain data in the app on 3 metrics—blood pressure trends, insulin resistance trends, and sleep breathing quality—not as clinical diagnoses, but as data for tracking changes in the body over the long term.
The supported models are Pixel Watch 3, 4, and 5, with no additional cost. The first trend reports are scheduled to arrive in early October. At the same time, paid availability on Fitbit Air for Google Health Premium subscribers has been announced for later this year.
Trend data is delivered on the first day of each month. The announcement specifies that insulin resistance trends require wearing the device for at least 7 days per month, while blood pressure trends require continuous wear for at least 5 days per week. It also explains that no new sensors are used and that the estimates are based on data from existing sensors.
The announcement does not explicitly state when the service will launch in Japan, but a note includes the name used for the Japanese market, indicating that Japan is among the regions contemplated. Breathing Emergency Detection is scheduled to become available in parts of Europe, but is said not to have undergone FDA review, and availability is limited to certain countries.
