Okuma, a major machine tool manufacturer, revised up its earnings forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027 and raised its dividend forecast, sending the share price to a record high. The increase in the quarterly earnings forecast was also reported as a factor behind the positive market reaction.
Okuma rose for a third straight session, with its closing price climbing ¥240 from the previous day to ¥5,520 and reaching its highest level since July 2007. The move came in response to the upward revision and dividend increase announced after the market close on the 5th.
The revenue forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027 was revised up from ¥245 billion to ¥260 billion, while the operating profit forecast was raised from ¥19 billion to ¥26 billion. The revisions reportedly reflect the latest business environment and the company’s initiatives.
The dividend forecast was also revised, with both the interim and year-end dividends raised from the previous ¥50 to ¥60, bringing the expected annual dividend to ¥120.
In its first-quarter results for April-June 2026, revenue came to ¥51.9 billion, up 16.3% year on year, while operating profit was ¥4.399 billion, 2.8 times the year-earlier level, indicating strong performance.
