GENIEE, INC.'s 1Q results for fiscal 2026 showed double-digit revenue growth, driven by strong performance in its advertising platform and digital PR businesses, with total revenue reaching ¥3.5 billion. The company fell into the red as one-off expenses accumulated while it pursued structural reforms in its SaaS business, but adjusted operating profit remained positive.
Total revenue in the first quarter increased by double digits year on year, with the advertising platform business lifting revenue and profit through contributions from large overseas projects and growth in its domestic SSP operations. Overall revenue remained stable at approximately ¥3.5 billion. The digital PR business also achieved strong 37% growth, supported by the effects of acquisitions and organic growth.
In the SaaS business, SG&A expenses increased as commissioned development progressed, while issues also led to the recognition of one-off costs. Although the company fell into the red for the quarter, adjusted operating profit remained positive. ARR continued to grow strongly, up 21% year on year, and the company indicated that it aims to return to profitability through structural reforms from the second quarter onward.
1Q included ¥181 million in unauthorized-access response costs and a ¥198 million bad-debt provision. Together with the impact of foreign-exchange losses, these factors pushed profit before tax to negative ¥469 million, resulting in the company's first loss in 6 years. A reversal of the bad-debt provision is expected going forward.
The company continued working to improve operating cash flow, and free cash flow turned significantly positive. Financial soundness is expected to improve, alongside progress in repaying borrowings. JAPAN AI completed the second round of its Series C financing and is accelerating its growth platform through stronger partnerships and collaboration with Otsuka Corporation.
