The Nikkei Average was down ¥96 at 1:52 p.m., with Japanese stocks continuing to decline. The stocks making the largest contributions to the Nikkei's decline stood out among the top contributors, while nonferrous metals, services, metal products, retail and machinery were among the sectors with the steepest declines.
Meanwhile, SoftBank Group, Kioxia Holdings and Toyota Tsusho were among the biggest positive contributors, and the market showed some signs of limiting its losses.
The Nikkei Average remained firm near its lows, but rising domestic long-term interest rates continued to be viewed as a persistent concern across the broader market.
