Four companies led by Aeronext and CHANGE Holdings conducted a demonstration of bear-control drones at the former Fujisato Junior High School in Fujisato, Akita Prefecture. They used logistics drones for patrols and on-site checks, among other activities, but did not deliver packages.
A demonstration of bear-control drones by 4 companies, Aeronext, NEXT DELIVERY, CHANGE Holdings and Toko Computer Service, was conducted on 29 October 2026 at the former Fujisato Junior High School in Fujisato, Akita Prefecture. Against the backdrop of an increase in personal injuries caused by bears, the demonstration sought to establish a sustainable operating model.
The demonstration included patrols by logistics drones, checks of simulated targets, sharing of location information and images, on-site checks by response drones, and remote operation from a remote room. AirTruck and Matrice 4T aircraft were used. No packages were delivered.
In Akita Prefecture, bear-related personal injuries were reportedly the highest in Japan in fiscal 2025, with bears continuing to appear in approximately 62% of residential areas. The demonstration emphasised the validation of a new operating model, including dual operations. Going forward, the companies will expand the use of the data obtained to municipalities nationwide and explore the potential for resolving regional issues and developing new industries.
