Yamato Transport has launched a large logistics facility in Hayashima, Okayama Prefecture, establishing it as a core hub for the Chugoku-Shikoku region and integrating Takkyubin parcel delivery with business logistics operations. Operations began on 1 November, with the integration of multiple functions aimed at improving transport efficiency and reducing the workload on employees.
Yamato Transport has launched a large logistics facility in Hayashima, Okayama Prefecture. Positioned as a hub for consolidating Takkyubin parcels from across the Chugoku-Shikoku region, it combines corporate storage, inbound and outbound handling, and Takkyubin sorting and transport operations on the same site.
The building is a three-story steel-framed structure with a total floor area of approximately 38,000 sq m. Each floor has space for approximately 90 vehicles to dock, a design intended to reduce vehicle waiting times.
Shipments from the Chugoku-Shikoku region to the Kanto region are consolidated once at the hub, improving load efficiency and enabling bulk transport. A total of 70 trucks were deployed when operations began, half of them large trailers. Automatic equipment determines the delivery destination shown on each waybill, increasing processing capacity and advancing logistics efficiency in the region.
Maeda Keisuke (前田圭介), head of the Okayama Hayashima Project, explained why Hayashima was selected as the logistics junction and said he hoped the project would help improve working conditions across the logistics industry.
