Nippon Gear revised its first-half ordinary profit forecast up from the previous estimate of ¥930 million to ¥1.3 billion. The full-year forecast remains unchanged, with demand from nuclear power plants for the gear-unit business and other factors driving the revision.
After the market close on 27 October 2026, Nippon Gear revised its ordinary profit forecast for the cumulative second quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2027 (April–September) up from the previous estimate of ¥930 million to ¥1.3 billion. Ordinary profit was ¥810 million in the same period of the previous year, representing a 39.8% increase in profit and a further upward revision to the record-high level.
The full-year ordinary profit forecast remains unchanged at the previous estimate of ¥2.56 billion. The company said it would not revise the forecast at this time, citing uncertainty over the progress of future projects, the order environment and the timing of revenue recognition.
The company cited higher domestic and overseas sales to nuclear power plants in its gear-unit business and increased overseas sales of replacement parts for oil and gas plants as reasons for the revision. In addition, profit secured from large-scale nuclear power plant projects and higher replacement-parts sales are expected to exceed the previous plan.
