Niigata City expanded the monthly usage limits for the “Senior Half-Fare” program from 1 March 2024, broadening the scope of fares eligible for the 50% discount. The program is available to residents aged 65 or over and covers all routes where 新潟交通’s Ryuto can be used.
The limit under the “Senior Half-Fare” program promoting outings for older adults has changed. From 1 March 2024, the monthly limit per person was expanded to ¥8,600 at the regular fare and ¥4,300 at the half fare. No special procedure is required for the change in limits.
The program is available to residents of Niigata City aged 65 or over. Eligible services include all 新潟交通 route buses where Ryuto can be used, as well as all ward-bus and community-bus routes. Express buses are excluded.
The discount applies when bus fares are paid using the “Senior Half-Fare Ryuto” card, reducing the fare by half. The applicant or a proxy must bring the required documents when applying.
Applications are accepted at the 新潟交通 Bus Center and 新潟交通's sales offices. New card issuance may require completion of an application form and payment of ¥2,000 for the card, including a ¥500 deposit.
