In addition to expanding its DTx product development pipeline and increasing contracts in the DTx platform business, サスメド is pursuing joint research and considering overseas expansion as it works to further develop its growth strategy.
As part of its growth strategy, サスメド is pursuing expansion of the number of development pipeline projects and progress in clinical trials, with the aim of maximizing long-term revenue from the DTx product business. In the DTx platform business, it aims to achieve sustained and cumulative revenue growth by increasing the number of contracts and expanding new services, while promoting joint research and alliances with medical institutions, academic research institutions and pharmaceutical companies. Regarding overseas expansion, the company plans to select target countries based on a comprehensive assessment of laws and regulations, insurance reimbursement, market size and the presence or absence of competitors.
As an example of its joint research, the company reported that in May 2022 it began work with NCNP (National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry) on “Developing personal information de-identification methods and establishing data processing technologies for data accumulation and utilization,” and that the project was selected for an AMED program. In September of the same year, it signed a joint research agreement with Shiga University to establish core technology for causal discovery, and the project was selected for CREST. The company is also working with NCNP to implement remote mental healthcare for people of all generations in society, and has begun research with Nagoya University to support drug discovery based on risk variants for mental disorders, advancing collaboration with multiple institutions.
In assessing its medium- to long-term growth potential, the company indicated that R&D expenses are expected to precede revenue generation, while business development is entering full swing through the launch of DTx sales, progress in validation studies and the conduct of clinical trials using SUSMED SDS. It also states a policy of pursuing both solutions to social issues and enhancement of corporate value through the use of public funding, stronger sustainability management frameworks and the development of its governance structure.
Over the medium to long term, the company is considered capable of contributing to greater efficiency in clinical settings and lower medical costs. The report expresses a view that attention should be paid to development progress toward the launch of subsequent products. The report was written by a guest analyst at FISCO.
