Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha's share price rose from ¥7,158 at the close on 4 September to ¥7,262 at the close on 11 September. Japanese securities firms' price-target increases and sharply higher revenue and profit for the first quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2027 were reported.
Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha's share price rose 1.45% over 5 trading days, remaining near its recent high. Between 4 and 7 September, Nomura Securities and SMBC Nikko Securities raised their price targets to ¥6,700 and ¥6,900, respectively.
In its earnings results for the first quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2027, Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha reported revenue of ¥727.7 billion, operating profit of ¥57.7 billion and net profit of ¥67.1 billion, all sharply higher year on year. Energy and dry bulk operations made a significant contribution, while automotive and logistics operations recorded lower profit.
The full-year forecast was also revised upward, reflecting the view that firm shipping market conditions against the backdrop of a closure of the Strait of Hormuz and higher cargo volumes will drive earnings. At the same time, risk factors such as route changes and fluctuations in fuel prices were noted.
