Yaskawa Electric announced its interim results for the fiscal year ending February 2027. Sales rose 9.8% year on year to ¥285.598 billion, while operating profit fell 5.5% to ¥22.058 billion, and orders rose 38% to a record high. Full-year sales guidance was raised to ¥600 billion, while operating profit guidance was lowered to ¥57.5 billion.
The Motion Control segment posted substantial increases in sales and profit, driven by data center and semiconductor-related investment. However, the impact of the core-system migration on production and shipments, higher indirect costs, and restructuring costs recognized in Europe weighed on overall profit. The Robotics segment recorded a slight decline in sales and a substantial decrease in operating profit.
By region, sales in the Americas rose 26.2% to ¥78.1 billion, while sales in China increased 15.1% to ¥66.7 billion, showing notable growth. Domestic sales fell 3.2% to ¥70.7 billion, and the overseas sales ratio rose to 75%.
Second-quarter orders rose 38% year on year and 11% from the previous quarter, reaching a record high. Cash flow improved, with cash flow from operating activities exceeding ¥45.6 billion and free cash flow remaining positive at more than ¥15.9 billion. For the full year, the company revised its foreign exchange assumptions toward a weaker yen and expects sales of ¥600 billion and operating profit of ¥57.5 billion.
In the second half, the company will work to normalize supply and strengthen its increased-production capabilities. As part of its expansion in AI robotics, it is advancing field trials centered on MOTOMAN NEXT and will continue field demonstrations aimed at commercializing humanoid robots. Capital expenditures of ¥58 billion and R&D investment of ¥24 billion are planned, while the annual dividend will remain unchanged at ¥72 per share.
