USS's September transaction price fell below the prior-year level, and 車選びドットコム published a market report. The report also covered domestic vehicle trends and export trends in September, as well as the impact of revisions to EV subsidies.
In the September used-car market, used registered vehicles totaled 295,436 units, down 4.6% year on year, while used kei vehicles totaled 229,930 units, down 3.2%. The total fell 4.0% to 525,366 units. Automotive export value rose 15.1% year on year in the Ministry of Finance's September trade statistics, while exports to the Middle East fell 35.2% to 51,014 units. According to JUMVEA's August data, total used-car exports rose 7.2% to 144,447 units, but exports to the UAE fell 87.2%, indicating significant differences by destination.
By model, Yaris sales totaled 14,230 units (+4.1%), Corolla 11,321 units (-1.8%), and Sienta 10,468 units (+40.2%). Among SUVs, Land Cruiser sales rose 67.0% to 7,362 units, RAV4 sales rose 135.5% to 5,120 units, and CX-5 sales rose 86.2% to 4,394 units, while Raize sales fell 56.8% to 4,066 units. Among kei vehicles, N-BOX sales totaled 19,105 units (-12.0%), Spacia 16,088 units (-1.9%), Roox 1,032 units (+114.2%), and Delica Mini/eK 7,505 units (+49.5%).
By fuel type, HVs accounted for 147,496 registered passenger vehicles (+9.5%), representing 62.4% of the total, while EVs totaled 13,440 units (+199.7%), representing 5.7%. Following revisions to CEV subsidies, the subsidy amount is scheduled to be reduced for applications from 1 January 2027 onward. Applications under the current budget are expected to close between early and late December, and the report noted that purchasing decisions will need to take into account future changes in effective purchase prices.
In light of model-by-model trends and the impact of the subsidy revisions, the report recommended measures including reviewing inventory prices by 31 October, strengthening purchases of 2020-2022 model-year vehicles, updating purchase limits for EVs, and confirming the sales channels and profitability of SUVs intended for export.
