The SVT Index, comprising fashion and beauty-related stocks in Japan, stood at 13,836.8 points on 4 November 2026, up 0.95% from the previous day. Constituent performance was mixed, with 57 stocks declining, 31 rising and 8 unchanged. HUMAN MADE was the top decliner at -9.99%, followed by Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings at -6.05%, MTG at -5.97%, H2O Retailing at -5.69% and J. Front Retailing at -5.59%.
Department store and watch stocks fell sharply. Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings, at -16.79pt, J. Front Retailing, at -9.50pt, and Takashimaya, at -6.28pt, were also significant drags on the SVT Index. Uncertainty following the US midterm elections and expectations of yen appreciation appear to have contributed to broader selling across the Tokyo market. Weakness in AI and semiconductor-related stocks weighed on the market and heightened investor caution at times, while Fast Retailing's share price rise lifted the index.
In the SVT Index share-price gainers ranking, Fast Retailing led at +2.67%, while gains in stocks with significant contributions, including Ryohin Keikaku at +11.11pt and Asics at +8.03pt, supported the market. HUMAN MADE's -9.99% was the largest decline in the top 10 decliners ranking, followed by Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings, MTG, H2O Retailing and J. Front Retailing.
