Indonesia Research Institute announced that it has been appointed as Buton Regency's Japan liaison and indicated its intention to further promote business ties between Japanese companies and the regency. The aim is to strengthen matchmaking support in fisheries and other sectors.
Buton Regency is located in southeastern Sulawesi and has resources including natural asphalt, patchouli and nickel. Travel times are indicated as approximately 7 hours 30 minutes from Tokyo to Jakarta, approximately 2 hours 25 minutes from Jakarta to Makassar, and approximately 1 hour 15 minutes from Makassar to Baubau. Buton Regency's fisheries sector is expected to generate approximately 18,700 tonnes annually, with a value of approximately Rp39.26 billion, and its main fishing grounds cover a wide range of species, including tuna and black marlin.
Going forward, the institute plans to provide multifaceted support as the Japan liaison, including disseminating information, facilitating business meetings and site visits, and promoting personnel exchanges. It has been reported that, as the first initiative, it arranged a meeting with Japanese companies and held local discussions on TDG Holdings and fisheries businesses.
