On 13 October, ABB Robotics Japan announced the new IRB 1700 and IRB 1700ID robots, which are also suitable for assembling AI server racks. They offer path repeatability of 0.03 mm and axis speeds of up to 700 degrees per second. The footprint is said to be half that of the previous models, while power consumption is reduced by up to 15%.
ABB Robotics Japan announced the new IRB 1700 and IRB 1700ID. The 2 robots offer high-precision path repeatability of 0.03 mm and axis speeds of up to 700 degrees per second, and are said to reduce cycle times by up to 20% across a range of tasks, including AI server rack assembly. Their footprint is reduced by 50% compared with the previous models, while power consumption is reduced by up to 15%.
The robots are compatible with the OmniCore controller and are available in 5 models covering payloads from 6 kg to 12 kg. They support a wide range of applications, including material handling, arc welding, deburring, polishing, and machine tending, and are also suitable for assembling AI server racks.
