The forecourt of Fukuoka City Museum will open as “Museum Garden.” On the museum’s anniversary, visitors will be able to view the permanent and special exhibitions free of charge, and events including workshops, a stamp rally and a brass band performance will be held.
The opening of Museum Garden coincides with Fukuoka City Museum’s anniversary. On 18 October, visitors can view the permanent and special exhibitions free of charge. The galleries will introduce Fukuoka’s history and daily life, including the “Golden Seal,” while special exhibitions such as “The Ohama-style Kanjō Ceremony and ‘Great Lantern Paintings’” are also scheduled to close during the event period. The programme and venue may change depending on weather conditions.
The event will include workshops, a stamp rally, a brass band concert and other activities, offering visitors a range of experiences inside and outside the museum. The workshop programme includes making original button badges, with a coloring-sheet version also available.
In the stamp rally, participants who tour the museum and collect all the stamps will receive original merchandise. Participation is limited to 1 time per person, and details of the prizes will be announced later.
The performance schedule includes several afternoon acts, with venues including the area in front of the entrance, the main plaza and the Sankaku Plaza. Performers will include a brass band, street performers and balloon artists.
The food trucks 88KITCHEN and 55DOG will serve food and drinks, including yakisoba and hot dogs. Museum Garden comprises areas such as Sankaku Plaza, the Naturalistic Garden and the Garden Terrace, which can be used for dining and breaks.
