Kajima, one of Japan's major construction companies, withdrew its final appeal against the Japan Fair Trade Commission's corrective order over an alleged violation of the Antimonopoly Act in connection with construction of the Chuo Shinkansen. As a result, the company's legal proceedings will gradually move toward conclusion.
In the related criminal case, the Supreme Court dismissed the decision in September, and Kajima is reported to have withdrawn its appeal in the related matter. This effectively brings all legal disputes in the same case to a close.
The withdrawal and the Supreme Court's decision have brought the legal dispute over construction of the Chuo Shinkansen into order, pointing to a new phase in the future course of the litigation.
