Monthly active users (MAU) at leading manga platform "Manga Kingdom" fell approximately 29.5% year on year, while revenue remained broadly flat and ARPPU increased. Against this backdrop, the company revised its full-year forecast downward.
According to the published financial results, monthly active users (MAU) for the core "Manga Kingdom" service decreased 29.5% year on year, continuing the downward trend seen since 2024. Although the company has been working to retain and cultivate heavy users, this has not been enough to absorb the decline in MAU.
Meanwhile, revenue from the service remained at approximately 97% of the level recorded in the same period of the previous year. ARPPU increased 9.4% and consumer ARPPU rose 13.2%, indicating higher spending per user. Spending and consumption per member increased, but this was not enough to offset the decline in the member base, resulting in a slight decrease in total platform revenue.
External sales were strong, with the company's original titles continuing to become hits on other companies' platforms, including one that ranked first in the women's manga category of the first-half rankings. In response, the company revised its full-year forecasts downward, cutting revenue from ¥17.091 billion to ¥15.263 billion and operating profit from ¥1.491 billion to ¥745 million.
For the full year, the company expects platform segment revenue of ¥9.7 billion, or 96% year on year, based on the decline in MAU and does not anticipate a short-term recovery in MAU. Going forward, it plans to strengthen social media marketing and advertising targeting heavy users, pursue new-user acquisition initiatives through collaboration with other services, and expand its genres and operations in North America.
