When Ohibitsu Naoto (大櫃 直人), formerly of Mizuho Bank, visited Net Protections, Shibata Shin's (柴田 紳) teal management was discussed and the background to the company's business and growth was introduced.
Net Protections has offered NP Atobarai since its founding, starting with NP Atobarai in 2002, followed by NP Kakebarai for businesses in 2011 and the consumer-focused atone service in 2017. In 2018, it began offering AFTEE in Taiwan, established a holding company, and in 2021 listed on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. It is now listed on the Prime Market. As of 2023, consolidated revenue was ¥25.214 billion, operating profit was ¥2.848 billion and GMV reached ¥764.3 billion. For the fiscal year ending March 2027, operating revenue of ¥27.8 billion and operating profit of ¥3.6 billion are forecast.
Shibata Shin (柴田 紳) was not a founder. He joined the company in 1998 and became president in 2004. Amid successive changes in major shareholders, he served as president for more than 20 years and is now involved with the company as an adviser. Net Protections is known as a leading example of a teal organization, and Shibata's management style is the subject of Part 3 of the series.
