Pasona Group will launch the “Island Project to Nurture the Sea” on Awaji Island in October 2026. As its first initiative, the group will conduct pond-draining activities to conserve irrigation ponds and supply nutrients to the sea, and will provide operational support for activities hosted by local organisations on the 17th.
Pasona Group announced that it will launch an initiative to pass on Awaji Island’s natural environment and local culture to future generations, working with local residents, companies, universities and research institutions, local governments and other stakeholders. As its first initiative, the group will host pond-draining activities on 14 and 15 October, undertaking environmental conservation activities through the preservation of irrigation ponds and the supply of nutrients to the sea.
The project will also plan and operate activities in cooperation with stakeholders both on and off the island, and will support participation in and the dissemination of information about activities hosted by other organisations, with the aim of expanding local participation.
Going forward, the group aims to deepen regional collaboration and build a sustainable model for addressing local issues by applying its knowledge and technologies, and plans to deploy the knowledge gained on Awaji Island to communities nationwide.
The planned activities are: ① Pasona Group-hosted “kaibori” pond-draining activities in the Higashiura and Mori Fishing Port areas on 14 October (Wednesday) and 15 October (Thursday) 2026; and ② operational support for “kaibori” pond-draining activities hosted by a local organisation in the Ozaki Sumiyodani and Ichinomiya Fishing Port areas on 17 October (Saturday) 2026.
