Kobe Steel,Ltd. announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with India's Kirloskar Pneumatic Company (KPCL) to assess strategic collaboration in the non-standard compressor business. KPCL engages in compressors and refrigeration equipment and has a broad customer base in India, ranging from state-owned enterprises to major private-sector companies. It has an operating structure that enables it to complete design, procurement, manufacturing and assembly of compressor units locally, giving it strengths in local sourcing and production.
Kobe Steel,Ltd. has technology and product capabilities in non-standard compressors, including reciprocating, centrifugal and screw compressors. The two companies will consider collaboration primarily in the oil and gas and petrochemical sectors, while aiming to create new business opportunities in carbon-neutral fields such as hydrogen and ammonia.
Large-scale investment continues in India's oil, gas and petrochemical sectors, and multiple large-scale projects are planned in the hydrogen and ammonia fields. Kobe Steel,Ltd. is considering expanding its business beyond compressor supply to include after-sales service and maintenance and replacement demand.
