At the Obama Hot Spring District in Unzen, Nagasaki, paid rental of DAIWA fishing gear will be offered as part of the GOOD TIDE OBAMA event, with the cooperation of GLOBERIDE and fishing media outlet BEFORE YOU WAKE UP, allowing participants to enjoy fishing and hot-spring steaming on site.
The Unzen Tourism Bureau, a general incorporated association, will provide DAIWA fishing gear rentals at GOOD TIDE OBAMA, a marine leisure event to be held in the Obama Hot Spring District on Sunday, 18 October 2026, with the cooperation of GLOBERIDE and BEFORE YOU WAKE UP. Fishing influencer Mizuho Tagami (田上 みずほ) will provide instruction throughout the event, and fish caught will be prepared by local chefs, cooked in hot-spring steamed cooking pots and handed to participants.
The rental period is 12:00–19:00, and the rental fee is ¥500 per rod/40 minutes. GLOBERIDE will provide the fishing gear, and rental fees will go toward operating costs. The Sunset Fishing Cruise, which takes participants offshore by boat, costs ¥6,000, lasts 1 hour 30 minutes, and includes free rental of fishing gear and other equipment. The meeting point is the Obama Hot Spring Tourist Information Center.
The program will also feature limited menus using seafood, day-use hot-spring bathing, and activities including sea kayaking, SUP and yoga, making use of the attractions of the hot-spring district. GLOBERIDE and BEFORE YOU WAKE UP are listed among the cooperating companies, and information is provided on steamed-pot use benefits and how rental fees will be used.
The event is open to beginners who want to start fishing and is positioned as an experiential program in which fishing gear rental and instruction are completed on site. Sunset is scheduled for 17:48, and the program is designed to let participants enjoy the local sea and hot-spring district together.
