JT's habit-building app Habee won the 2026 Good Design Award. Goodpatch, which participated from the conceptual stage through the award, has supported Habee's experience design and development, as well as improvements following its launch.
Habee, a habit-building app from Japan Tobacco Inc. (JT), was selected as a 2026 Good Design Award winner. Goodpatch, which handled design and development support from the conceptual stage, worked on Habee's experience design, UI/UX, MVP development and post-launch improvements, marking the group's 13th consecutive year receiving an award.
Habee is a team-based habit-building app used with peers. Downloads exceeded 300,000 within 1 year and 8 months of launch, its App Store rating was 4.6, and it ranked No. 3 in the social networking category on Google Play. Goodpatch supported the creation of experiences users would want to continue using by developing an MVP that delivered core value with minimal functionality and repeatedly making improvements based on actual usage data.
The judges praised the app, saying that although habit-building is difficult, the challenge was addressed through peer-support design. In Habee's development and improvement process, mechanisms such as real-time notifications encouraging users to celebrate their peers' achievements and the introduction of text emojis enabling diverse reactions were said to have produced positive results. These initiatives were cited as one factor behind the award.
