The Internal Communication Study Group, jointly launched by Yappli and 宣伝会議, is focusing on organizational development as its theme for fiscal 2026 and discussing the process of embedding corporate principles in everyday behavior. More than 20 companies, primarily large enterprises, are participating.
The Internal Communication Study Group was launched by Yappli and 宣伝会議 in April 2024 to discuss the role of corporate communications in creating an environment in which each employee can perform at their best, as well as ways to foster an open corporate culture. For fiscal 2026, the group has adopted “What does internal communication change in an organization?” as its theme and is examining ways to accumulate experience in the process of ensuring that employees’ actions do not end as a one-off, but become embedded as principles and everyday behavior.
The list of participating companies includes DUNLOP, Sharp, AEON, JTB, Mercari and Yappli. Discussions focus on ways to organize and disseminate shared values across a group. The discussions are centered on cross-talk sessions and group work, and examples were identified of efforts to move from a state of knowing the corporate principles to a stage in which they are used as criteria for decision-making.
A key focus of the discussions is moving beyond simply knowing the corporate principles to enabling employees to use them as a basis for decisions in the workplace. Participants shared the need to position middle managers as promoters and change their role from communicators to promoters. How to translate the penetration of values among leaders into practical guidance for the workplace was raised as a challenge.
In the latter half of the discussions, five elements were identified as conditions supporting organizational development: mechanisms for translating principles into workplace behavior, opportunities for dialogue, culture-building originating in workplace behavior, the involvement of middle managers, and effectiveness measurement that looks ahead to behavioral change. A public seminar is scheduled for 2 December 2026, encouraging participants to apply the discussions to their own internal communication plans.
