Following the peak in AI-related demand, attention is turning to the non-robotics order mix at Yaskawa Electric and FANUC. Americas orders rose sharply in the June–August quarter, with demand for FA and servo motor-related products driving earnings, while the robotics division's contribution declined.
FANUC and Yaskawa Electric are seen as having supported earnings through growth in their non-robotics divisions. FANUC's FA division grew significantly, with orders expanding on strong demand for machine tools, including CNC machines. At Yaskawa Electric, sales in the Motion Control division rose substantially, supported by demand for servo motors and inverters. Orders in the robotics division are showing signs of recovery, but their share of total orders declined.
By order breakdown, growth in FANUC's robotics division was limited, while expansion in the FA division drove the overall increase. This reflects the spillover of machine tool demand across a broad range of industries, including aerospace and automotive. At Yaskawa Electric, orders for inverters used in data center air conditioning and server cooling contributed to results. By region, the Americas recorded the strongest growth in the June–August quarter, while by division, the Motion Control division posted particularly strong growth.
