Under Saitama Prefecture's naming-rights programme for Shibakawa Daiichi Retention Basin, Nissuicon was selected as the partner. The nickname is “Nissuicon Shibakawa Daiichi Retention Basin,” and the naming-rights term was announced as 1 August 2026 to 31 March 2031.
Shibakawa Daiichi Retention Basin was developed to mitigate flooding on the Class A Shibakawa River, which spans Saitama and Kawaguchi cities in Saitama Prefecture. The left-bank basin has a site area of 63 ha and retention capacity of 2 million m³. Nissuicon has been involved in work covering both flood control and the water environment in the Shibakawa River basin, including the preparation of environmental improvement and maintenance plans.
The acquisition of the naming rights forms part of initiatives related to the Nissuicon Group Vision 2030's “basin water management” initiative. The prefecture has changed the name shown on its retention basin cards to Nissuicon Shibakawa Daiichi Retention Basin and is also using them for local awareness initiatives, including distribution to elementary school students at environmental education sessions.
