Renesas has begun shipping samples of its new GreenPAK product, the SLG46801. The ultra-compact 1.155 mm-square, 9-pin WLCSP features a multit ime-programmable function that allows configurations to be changed without limit on the number of rewrites. Mass production is scheduled to begin in November 2026.
Renesas Electronics announced on 24 September that it would begin shipping samples of the new SLG46801 product in its GreenPAK series. Despite its compact size, the device features a multit ime-programmable function, with mass production scheduled to begin in November 2026.
The SLG46801 uses a 1.155 × 1.155 mm, 9-pin WLCSP package and operates across a supply-voltage range of 1.71–5.5 V in both operating and configuration modes. Its internal functions include 2 high-speed analog comparators, configurable lookup tables, counter/delay functions, an oscillator and an I2C-compatible serial interface.
The device includes nonvolatile memory (NVM) that supports function updates via I2C, enabling bug fixes and configuration changes even after the device has been incorporated into the final application. This is expected to help reduce hardware redesigns and board revisions.
GUI-based design tools, including the Go Configure Software Hub, are available for programming, emulation and simulation in a consistent environment. In addition to the 9-pin WLCSP, a 12-pin STQFN with additional I/O will also be offered.
