Japan Tissue Engineering Co.,Ltd.'s business overview and growth strategy were presented in an IR interview as Japan's first platform company for regenerative medicine using autologous cells. The interview focused on its three-business structure, future product launch plans and overseas expansion policy.
Japan Tissue Engineering Co.,Ltd. positions itself as a “platform company for regenerative medicine using autologous cells” and operates three businesses centred on regenerative medicine products: contract services and R&D support. Founded in 1999, the company has worked with universities and medical institutions for many years to bring regenerative medicine into practical use. It achieved profitability in the fiscal year ended March 2024 and, backed by more than 25 years of experience, is pursuing both product commercialisation and practical implementation.
Its regenerative medicine products include the autologous cultured epidermis product JACE, the autologous cultured cartilage product JACC, the autologous cultured corneal epithelium product NEPIC, the autologous cultured oral mucosal epithelium product Ocural and the melanocyte-containing epidermis product JASMIN. All are products in which cells are collected from the patient, cultured and transplanted. Its contract development and research support businesses help bring development seeds from universities and medical institutions into practical use.
The company's growth strategy calls for expanding the launches and markets for its regenerative medicine products. JASMIN is targeted for launch in the fiscal year ending March 2025 for the treatment of vitiligo, while Allo-JaCE03, an allogeneic cultured epidermis product for dry applications, is targeted for launch in the fiscal year ending March 2026. The company is also working to expand the indications for its autologous cultured cartilage product and has applied to expand its use to osteoarthritis of the knee. It also intends to pursue growth in its contract regenerative medicine and R&D support businesses and strengthen its domestic and overseas operations through collaboration with the Teijin Group.
