Mitsubishi Heavy Industries issued its integrated report “MHI REPORT 2026.” Centered on ITO (Innovative Total Optimization), the report clearly explains the company’s management methodology, which seeks to create a virtuous cycle of high profitability and growth investment through total optimization and expansion into new domains.
CFO Nishio Hiroshi (西尾浩) and CSO Suematsu Masayuki (末松正之) explained the initiatives aimed at achieving the “2024 Business Plan,” the medium-term management plan for which fiscal 2026 is the final year. They stated that it is important to convert the record-high order backlog into revenue, profit and cash by executing contracts as agreed and improving the company’s financial position. They also outlined a policy of balancing growth investment with financial discipline and expressed their intention to achieve a virtuous cycle of high profitability and growth investment.
Following the signing of a capital and business alliance agreement with PFN (Preferred Networks) in August 2026, the report introduces a discussion between CEO Ito (伊藤) and PFN Representative Director and President Okano-hara (岡野原). The discussion focuses on AI implementation in mission-critical fields and presents a vision for creating new value through the integration of data utilization and AI technology.
The discussion also covers progress on initiatives aimed at achieving both expansion into new domains and business growth, including progress in the data center-related business, a growth strategy centered on the resilience infrastructure domain, the use of open innovation and investment in human capital.
