In the Tokyo market on the afternoon of the 23rd, dollar-yen edged lower to the ¥157.50 range. Euro-yen traded in the low ¥180s.
NY crude oil futures (WTI) fell below $89 per barrel and into the $88 range. The decline in crude oil prices made it easier for dollar selling to gain momentum.
The trading ranges so far have been ¥157.35-¥157.67 for dollar-yen, ¥180.11-¥180.38 for euro-yen and $1.1425-$1.1449 for euro-dollar.
