The secondary station name “In front of Yamaha Motor” has begun to be displayed at Mikuriya Station in Iwata City. As part of a community partnership initiative with Yamaha Motor, the station name sign now displays the new secondary name alongside the station's official name.
Yamaha Motor announced that it began displaying the secondary station name “In front of Yamaha Motor” at Mikuriya Station on the JR Tokaido Main Line in Iwata City, Shizuoka Prefecture, on 6 July 2026. Mikuriya Station opened in 2020 and is relatively new.
With the addition of the secondary station name, the station name sign now displays “In front of Yamaha Motor” alongside the official name “Mikuriya”. The move is expected to help raise awareness of Iwata City, where Yamaha Motor's headquarters is located.
The initiative is positioned as part of efforts to coexist with the local community and contribute through community-based activities. It will also make it immediately clear which station businesspeople and visitors coming to Iwata City should get off at.
On 24 July, keychains commemorating the display of the secondary station name are scheduled to go on limited sale at Yamaha's corporate museum.
