With the Nikkei 225 trading in the upper ¥60,000s, Hirakawa Yasuhiko (平川 康彦) of Rakuten Investment Management has expressed the view that the index could test ¥76,000 by year-end.
The Nikkei 225 has recovered after a period of decline and continues to trade in the upper ¥60,000s. Hirakawa Yasuhiko (平川 康彦), head of the Second Investment Department, believes the index could test ¥76,000 toward the end of the year. Its previous all-time high was ¥72,366, recorded in late June, and a view has been expressed that the index will target a level above that by year-end.
Many companies are currently reporting strong results above market expectations for the April-June 2026 quarter, making this a focus of the market. Trends in individual stocks and earnings that exceed expectations could affect market conditions going forward.
