Microsoft announced a new Copilot integrating Home, Code and Autopilot as new Copilot experiences. Home and Code will begin rolling out through the Frontier program, while the Autopilot private preview will be expanded. Integration with Office apps and broader information context through Microsoft IQ are also being advanced.
The new Copilot adds 3 features: Home, Code and Autopilot. Home combines Chat and Cowork, Code enables anyone to create small-scale solutions, and Autopilot is positioned as an always-on agent for individuals. Home and Code will become available through the Frontier program within the next few weeks, while the Autopilot private preview will be expanded at the end of this month.
Office in Copilot enables users to access Word, Excel and PowerPoint features directly from Copilot, strengthening the automation of document and presentation creation. Copilot supports real-time editing that can be shared with teams, and the presentation introduced features including PowerPoint brand consistency and the display of the rationale for changes in Excel.
With Code, users will be able to build a wide range of solutions, from desktop widgets to internal cloud applications, simply by describing in natural language what they want to create. Code uses the same foundation as GitHub Copilot and features a secure sandbox environment and contextual relevance provided by Microsoft IQ. It is scheduled to become available in preview for individuals following its rollout through the Frontier program.
As a digital teammate, Autopilot works autonomously rather than waiting for instructions and operates in the cloud. It automates tasks such as scheduling, follow-ups and sharing relevant information, and will be available in everyday work environments such as Teams and Outlook.
As part of efforts to expand business context, integration between Microsoft IQ and Fabric IQ has entered general availability, with Microsoft IQ as its foundation. By integrating data and workflows, Chat and Cowork can be used with organizational data as context. A plugin registry is also being made available, centralizing administration by IT departments and extensions developed by developers.
Going forward, new features supporting the work of both individuals and organizations, including Today and Teams integration for @Copilot, will be added in stages, with availability continuing through the Frontier program.
