Fukuoka Financial Group conducted an inspection tour from the 21st to the 22nd, inviting about 20 Asian local-government leaders to Nagasaki. The participants were government officials who had indicated an intention to promote regional revitalisation initiatives, including in Nagasaki. The group worked with DMO Nagasaki, a Nagasaki-based destination management organisation under which Juhachi-Shinwa Bank operates, to develop a visitor-circulation model and raise awareness of Nagasaki.
After travelling to Nagasaki on the evening of the 21st, the participants enjoyed traditional shippoku cuisine. On the 22nd, they visited Nagasaki Stadium City, Oura Cathedral and Glover Garden to deepen their inspection. DMO Nagasaki assisted with arranging the itinerary.
Mayor Shrestha (シュレスタ) of Madhyapur Thimi, Nepal, praised the quality of the fish and the stadium, expressed an intention to return and said he hoped to visit the atomic-bomb hypocentre and museum. Kamida (紙田) of Juhachi-Shinwa Bank’s Regional Development Department expressed hope that the initiative would lead to MICE opportunities from next year onward.
