マークラインズ has published the September 2026 edition of its Electric Vehicle (xEV) Sales Monthly Report. It compiles trends in unit sales and market share, focusing on BEVs across 15 major countries.
September 2026 electric vehicle (xEV) sales across 15 countries, comprising 12 major markets and 3 Nordic countries, rose 3.3% year on year and 22.9% month on month to 2.414 million units. The electric vehicle share of total sales reached a record 43.6%.
BEV sales increased 7.7% year on year to 1.337 million units, with market share expanding to 24.1%. Growing demand in France and India contributed to the increase, while sales also rose significantly in Brazil and other markets.
HEV sales increased 18.9% year on year to 567,000 units, while PHEV sales totaled 510,000 units. HEVs accounted for 10.3% of the market and PHEVs for 9.2%, supporting the overall market against a backdrop of growing BEV demand.
Cumulative electric vehicle sales for January–September totaled 17.009 million units, up 1.2% from the same period a year earlier. xEVs accounted for 37.8% of all new vehicle sales on a cumulative basis, comprising 8.779 million BEVs, 3.593 million PHEVs and 4.638 million HEVs.
