The official apps of Yamagata Bank and Shonai Bank were temporarily suspended over a defect in PHP, which is used worldwide. The issue has also spread to municipal and corporate websites across the prefecture.
After a serious defect was found in PHP, Yamagata Bank suspended nearly all functions of its official app for security checks and preventive measures. Shonai Bank has also restricted use of its official app since 21 October, while internet banking, including payment functions, remains available without change.
The prefectural government website has also been affected, with archived footage of the governor’s regular press conferences unavailable while maintenance is carried out for safety checks. The impact on other services is still being assessed. Some official website and official LINE functions are reportedly suspended in 17 municipalities, including Yamagata City and Yonezawa City, with no restoration date set.
The impact has also spread to companies, with the websites of Super Yamazawa and Yamagata Shimbun also unavailable. Following checks with all 35 municipalities in the prefecture, the presence and scope of the impact continue to vary by municipality.
The impact began on the afternoon of 21 October, and there is still no outlook for restoration. The restoration schedule is expected to be announced through official websites and social media.
