As a concept for the next-generation Mazda2, Mazda made its world premiere of a cross compact measuring 3825mm in length, 1795mm in width and 1470mm in height. Equipped with empathetic AI, it presented a new approach to creating cars that stay close to users like a best friend.
At Japan Mobility Show 2025, held in October 2025, Mazda made the world premiere of its vision model, “MAZDA VISION X-COMPACT (Mazda Vision Cross Compact).” The “MAZDA VISION X-COUPE (Mazda Vision Cross Coupe)” was also displayed at the venue, drawing attention as one of two vision models presenting Mazda’s vision for mobility in 2035.
The Cross Compact is a five-door compact with seating for 5, measuring 3825mm in length, 1795mm in width, 1470mm in height and with a 2515mm wheelbase. Its exterior is characterized by a blend of lightness suited to young people’s daily needs with the elegance and dynamic form of Mazda’s Kodo design.
The cabin features a design in which the colors flow continuously from the body, while the cockpit is centered around circular gauges and the steering wheel has a compact, smartphone-sized design. Its functions include interactive recommendations tailored to the user’s mood and circumstances, combining human-body and emotional models with empathetic AI. The development team said it aimed to create a presence that people could use as casually as a bicycle and that would stay close to them like a best friend.
The vehicle also attracted attention when displayed at Mazda’s communications hub in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo, as a model hinting at the next generation.
