J1 Fukuoka officially announced the appointment of Hiroshi Jofuku (城福 浩) as its new manager. He is set to take charge about 1 month after leaving Tokyo Verdy and will seek to rebuild the team.
Fukuoka announced on the 6th that Hiroshi Jofuku (城福 浩), formerly manager of Tokyo Verdy, would become its new manager. Earlier that day, the club had announced the termination of its contract with manager Shinya Tsukahara (塚原 真也). Fukuoka is bottom of the league table after 13 matches, with 2 wins, 1 draw, 10 losses and 7 points.
Jofuku has managed FC Tokyo, Kofu, Hiroshima and Tokyo Verdy, among others. His previous achievements include winning the Nabisco Cup with FC Tokyo and guiding Kofu to promotion to J2.
With Jofuku's appointment, Fukuoka's management structure for the current season will change from Shinya Tsukahara (塚原 真也) to Hiroshi Jofuku (城福 浩), and attention will focus on squad rebuilding, including the battle to avoid relegation and the promotion race.
Jofuku's first game in charge is expected to be the away match at Kawasaki on the 21st. On his appointment, he commented, “I believe we can break out of our current situation if the team's passionate supporters and everyone involved with the club stand united.”
