DATASECTION INC. announced ¥5.578 billion in deal origination and referral fees recorded in the first quarter. The announcement concerned the cancellation of a contract, including the portion related to withdrawing from conditions for additional orders involving AI data centers, and distinguished the nature of the fees from revenue from monthly usage charges.
DATASECTION INC. disclosed that ¥5.578 billion of its ¥6.327 billion in first-quarter revenue represented deal origination and referral fees recorded following the termination of a contract and withdrawal from conditions for additional orders, rather than monthly usage fees generated from operating an AI data center. The contract was canceled retroactively effective 1 April 2026, and the amount was determined through negotiations between the two companies based on expected profits over 18 months.
The cancellation does not mean that all AI data center-related projects have been eliminated. The usage contracts for the first project in Japan and the first project in Australia are excluded. There is also another large potential pipeline, but the timing of orders and operations has not been determined.
The full-year forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027 originally included ¥79.864 billion in revenue from additional orders, but the forecast remains unchanged. As some projects remain undetermined and others have been delayed, no new full-year forecast based on these projects has been provided at this time.
With the company awaiting additional disclosure after 16 August, it has indicated a policy of considering separately the contracts that have ended, the projects that have been delayed, and the pipeline that remains undetermined.
